Collingham Poor Close Allotments

We are a local community allotment based in Collingham with 60 plots and 52 plot holders including John Blow School.

We have recently taken delivery of an Eco toilet for the allotment to be used by all the allotment members;this is a marvellous result as up to this point, we have had no toilet facilities on the site at all.

With renewed vigour from the Committee and Allotment plot holders we have developed a spare plot area into a Community Hub space with a wildlife pond, seating, flowers beds and hedging to encourage birds and wildlife to the area. We held a BBQ in the summer which was very successful where members were able to meet, swap ideas and spare plants!

We would love to develop this area further but struggle with funding as a non-profit organisation. We sell rhubarb and plants at the local May fair but the progress to develop our Community Hub is slow. The Community Hub site is visible to passers by as the hedging is open to Cottage Lane and we feel both the security and privacy of the site and new toilet may well be compromised or vandalised without privacy fencing.
