Working Together for a Hedgehog-Friendly Future

Launched in June 2026, Collingham Hedgehog Group has already brought together local residents with a shared passion for protecting hedgehogs. Since its launch, local people have reported an incredible 55 individual hedgehog sightings across the village. Every sighting helps us build a clearer picture of where hedgehogs are living and travelling, allowing us to better protect one of Britain’s most loved yet vulnerable wild mammals.

The Group’s is to make Collingham one of the UK’s leading hedgehog-friendly villages through conservation, education and community involvement.
Our future plans include creating a Collingham Hedgehog Street Map, recording every hedgehog sighting reported by residents. This will help identify important habitats, movement routes and areas where extra protection is needed.

Monthly meetings are held at the Allotment cafe to discuss the past month and aims and achievements within the Collingham Village where we are in the process of working with the local residents to make Collingham one of the most aware and friendly villages for hedgehogs.
