Valley Young People's Centre

At Valley Young People’s Centre, we offer young people a safe and welcoming environment in which to take part in positive activities. We aim to teach young people life skills, improve their confidence and gain new skills/abilities/hobbies. We work with young people from ages 10 – 19 (and up to 25 for young people with disabilities).

We have a varied programme designed by young people and cover a variety of topics and events for them to take part in during our sessions. This includes pool, table tennis, foosball, games consoles, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, sports/outdoor activities, competitions and various classes delivered by professionals. Young people feel safe to express themselves, socialise with their friends and discover new talents/hobbies. We also cover a lot of issue work that impacts on our young people today – especially things in our community such as, alcohol awareness, healthy relationships, contraception awareness, healthy eating, water safety, bullying and LGBT.

We are looking for weekly food donations so we can prepare meals with young people and teach them valuable life skills in doing so. We would also appreciate any cooking equipment, water, fruit and veg so we can offer healthy alternatives instead of sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks. We would also appreciate any donations of arts/crafts supplies, paints and sports equipment as well as toiletries, female hygiene products and deodorants as we work with young people on personal hygiene and find that products are quite expensive.
