Open Door

Open Door is a committed team of people who have worked in dementia services for many years.

We formed to provide a service to people who suffer from the effects of early-stage memory loss (dementia). We fully understand that living with a memory problem is not easy. It can strike at any time and any age and we know how challenging this can be.

Our services are not just for those who suffer from memory impairment, we encourage carers and family members to join our self help groups, where all aspects of living and coping with dementia can be discussed. The group offers a place where you can find support and share concerns.

Our aim is to provide information, help and support to everyone to the best of our ability and to provide assistance in all aspects of the management of dementia-associated symptoms.

Collingham Defibrillators Project

The Collingham Defibrillators Project has been managed by Collingham Parish Council since 2015, to provide defibrillators for emergency use at key locations around the village.

The original defibs were purchased with generous donations from parishioners and various community organisations, with the Parish Council continuing to maintain these devices and ensure that they are always ready to be deployed, should the need arise.

The construction of the new homes on The Hedgerows has brought an opportunity for an additional unit to be installed to extend emergency cover for the whole village and provide reassurance for the new home owners that should the need arise a defibrillator would be available quickly.

Collingham and District Village Care

Collingham and District Village Care cover the 32 villages served by Collingham Medical Centre and supports many in the community with the provision of transport to hospital and medical appointments.  This service is funded by passengers with a small grant each year from the County Council.  Throughout the pandemic this service has adapted to the needs of the community and provided other services as required.

Village Care also works to enhance the facilities for residents, with the provision and maintenance of benches, planting bulbs etc throughout the area and hope to provide dementia friendly directional signage.  The grant would be used specifically to meet the care element of the organisational objectives and will help further existing work, along with other organisations in a collaborative approach to make this an even more inviting and attractive place for everyone to live or visit.

Collingham and District Befriending Service

Collingham and District Pre-School

Collingham and District Pre-School depends on fund-raising for its indoor and outdoor play equipment for the play activities that are so important for a child’s early years learning. Items bought with donations include books, craft paper, paints, crayons, toys and equipment that help promote a child’s personal, social, emotional and physical development through play.

We are grateful for any support that allows us to buy or replace items that would not otherwise be available to us

Collingham & District Rural Advice and Resource Centre

Collingham Rural Advice Centre offers free and confidential advice, guidance and support to our Collingham and District villages. We work with Citizen’s Advice and offer telephone or online support during COVID restrictions, and face-to-face or drop-in appointments at our offices in the Memorial Hall in Collingham, or home visits where appropriate. We support people on a wide range of issues ranging from debt, benefits, allowances, housing, employment, mobility including blue badge applications. If we cannot help you directly we can signpost you to the person that can.

We rely solely on grants and donations for funding and would appreciate your support.
